Santa Barbara is located on the Pacific coast approximately 100 miles north of Los Angeles, easily accessible from US Route 101. The Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) directly serves the area. Participants can also drive or take a shuttle from Los Angeles International (LAX), which takes approximately two hours. Santa Barbara Airbus (805) 964-7759 is suggested. Rental cars are available from both airports. The Amtrak Coastal Starlight (Santa Barbara station) and Surfliner (Goleta stop) lines operate from points north and south. Greyhound provides bus service to downtown Santa Barbara.

Lodging

The Santa Barbara area features many accommodations; most are listed in the AAA Directory. Several establishments offer special rates for UCSB events. When making reservations, call the hotels directly and request the University rate.

UCSB Campus

Traveling north on Highway 101, take the Ward Memorial Blvd / Highway 217 exit off U.S. 101, about 8 miles north of Santa Barbara. Go to the end of the highway, and follow the roundabout to the LEFT to take a left turn onto Lagoon Road. At the stop sign, turn right onto UCEN Road. Look for Parking Lot 3 before the road bends to the left. Turn right into Parking Lot 3.

Traveling south on Highway 101, take the Fairview exit in the town of Goleta. Turn right on Fairview and follow the road as it goes right, then left past the Santa Barbara Airport. After the airport, look for the sign to UCSB, and turn left. This road merges into Ward Memorial Blvd / Highway 217. Go to the end of the highway, and follow the roundabout to the LEFT to take a left turn onto Lagoon Road. At the stop sign, turn right onto UCEN Road. Look for Parking Lot 3 before the road bends to the left. Turn right into Parking Lot 3.

Music Building

The Music Building is located next to Parking Lot 3. Use the automatic parking permit vending machine
(see the symbols on the campus map) to obtain a permit. The Music Building is next to the lot. Walk to the Music Building, which is to the right of the pinkish-orange building containing the MCC (Multicultural Center), Corwin Pavilion, and University Center (UCEN). If Lot 3 is full, look for another lot with an accompanying automatic parking permit vending machine to obtain a permit.
